However, with so many to choose from – and more coming online every month – knowing which ones are worth your time is often easier said than done.

1. What Bitcoin Did

What Bitcoin Did is a popular cryptocurrency podcast hosted by Peter McCormack (and one of my all-time favourites).

The show is conducted in a loose interview format with each episode featuring a different crypto-related expert. Notable past guests include Peter Schiff, Adam Back, and even Nayib Bukele (the current president of El Salvador).

While the show covers a wide range of topics, most episodes focus on the present and future role of Bitcoin in global finance; especially in the context of alternative and open finance.

For example, some episodes have covered the legitimacy of Bitcoin as a store of value, the potential effects of Bitcoin on central banks and monetary policy, and even the potential for Bitcoin to replace the petrodollar as the preeminent global currency.

Another area where the show shines is its focus on geopolitical and world finance topics. When covering these topics, Peter does a good job of explaining why the topic at hand is relevant to the world of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency and what it means from a big-picture perspective.

Peter also deserves credit for his abilities as a host. Interviews always come across as free-flowing and feature a healthy, yet easy-to-follow, exchange of ideas.

2. The Breakdown

The Breakdown details the ever-changing landscape of geopolitics, world finance, and what it all means for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Hosted by Nathaniel Whittemore, each episode is usually only about 15 minutes in length and serves as a round-up of the most important cryptocurrency-related stories from the previous two or three days.

Because of the show’s format, the podcast doesn’t normally include guests and no single topic is explored in great detail. However, it’s one of the best resources around for time-constrained individuals looking to stay up to date with all the latest cryptocurrency developments.

When he’s not recording episodes for The Breakdown, Whittemore works as a marketer in the cryptocurrency space – meaning he’s well connected to the industry and speaks from the position of an insider.

One aspect I enjoy about The Breakdown is the way Nathaniel examines macroeconomic trends and how they’re likely to impact the cryptocurrency market. Not only are these insights and observations interesting, but he does a good job at putting them into a crypto-related context and explaining why they are important.

3. Tales from the Crypt

Tales from the Crypt features host Marty Bent discussing Bitcoin, cryptocurrency, and other topics with guests and friends.

Not only does Marty and co. provide listeners with a good round-up of the latest news and developments from the crypto-sphere, but the format produces interesting discussions where different opinions and viewpoints are contrasted with one another

Marty is another host who deserves praise for his interviewing skills and for consistently providing listeners with interesting and well-informed guests. He also does a good job at keeping the conversation alive and knows when to let digressions run and when to reel a discussion back on track.

The one minor criticism people have is that Marty can go a little hard when plugging Cash App, the show’s primary sponsor.

Marty also writes a popular newsletter (listed as one of my favourites ones) which is sent out every weekday. Each instalment is a quick and dirty round-up of something bitcoin-related (e.g., recent news, new products/features, etc).

4. Ledger Cast

The Ledger Cast podcast is just one aspect of Ledger Status – a website dedicated entirely to cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.

Since its inception, the site has become known for hosting an invaluable collection of resources and analysis on the topic – most of which come in the form of articles, videos, and podcasts.

Hosted by Brian Krogsgard and Josh Olszewics, The Ledger Cast is different from the last three shows we have looked at in that it focuses heavily on trading, short term investing, and using technical analysis to examine current market trends.

If you’re particularly interested in trading and/or technical analysis, Brian and Josh frequently upload videos where they take a hot coin/token and examine its chart. These videos usually end with a short prediction on where they think the price is heading.

While these videos obviously shouldn’t be used as financial advice, they offer great insight into the art of charting and can be particularly valuable for those looking to improve their charting skills.

Aside from market analysis, the show frequently hosts prominent guests like Stai Kulechov (CEO of Aave), Brad Mills, and others.

Unchained is a podcast hosted by Laura Shin – a cryptocurrency journalist.

Before taking her talents to the world of podcasting, Laura was a senior editor at Forbes and one of the first mainstream reporters to cover the cryptocurrency scene full time.

This background has given her a unique perspective on the history and development of cryptocurrency – something she has detailed in her new book ‘The Cryptopians’, which details Ethereum’s turbulent beginnings and the 2017 ICO craze.

The first podcast, Unchained, is published once a week and runs about an hour in length. Each instalment features a different guest speaker who discusses a specific crypto-related subject.

The range of topics covered is broad, and everything from blockchain tech, taxes, crypto use-cases, and much more can be expected.

With over 1000 episodes under his belt, Anthony Pompliano is one of the more prolific cryptocurrency podcasters in cyberspace.

Beginning in 2018, The Pomp Podcast is great for those who want a good mix of Bitcoin investing advice along with a quality discussion of news and developments from the world of cryptocurrency.

In conjunction with the podcast, Anthony also writes The Pomp Letter – an email newsletter that focuses on Bitcoin investing, finance, and technology. The newsletter currently has nearly 200,000 subscribers and comes with plenty of actionable tips and advice.

Besides the technical analysis, market speculation, and trading talk, The Pomp Podcast has been known to feature some very prominent guests. This includes billionaire Chamath Palihapitiya, American entrepreneur Mark Cuban, and CEO of Ark Invest Cathie Wood.

Calling itself the OG of crypto podcasts, Epicenter was started by Adam B. Levine in 2013. In the years that followed, Adam was joined by Sebastian Couture, Brain Crain, and Meher Roy. Today, the show also includes Cosmos researcher Sunny Aggarwal and Gnosis COO Friederike Ernst.

What makes the Epicenter podcast different from the other shows we’ve covered is its in-depth focus on blockchain technology. While most crypto podcasts deal with the financial, geopolitical, and investment aspects of cryptocurrency, Adam and crew dive deep into the tech details of different blockchain projects.

Some of the more popular tech-related topics they explore include DeFi, decentralized storage, interoperability, scalability, and Layer 1 & 2 solutions.

That said, the team does occasionally take time to touch on other crypto-related subjects like NFTs, the future of Bitcoin as an asset, market predictions, privacy, and even regulation.

When it comes to DeFi, open finance, and DAOs, few shows cover these topics as well as Bankless – a podcast run by Ryan Sean Adams.

Ryan truly believes that the future will be bankless, and as a result, has done what he can to help people prepare for the upcoming financial revolution.

The show focuses heavily on both established and emerging DeFi projects and many episodes include high-profile guests for added insight. Some notable past guests include one-time presidential candidate Andrew Yang, Synthetix founder Kain Warwick, and DyDx founder/ex Coinbase engineer Antonio Juliano.
