How to Buy Bancor UK

1. Coinbase

Coinbase Logo

Coinbase is one of the biggest and most popular cryptocurrency exchanges available in the UK – and all around the world too.

You can deposit GBP into Coinbase using a UK bank transfer (via Faster Payments). GBP that I’ve transferred over to Coinbase has previously been credited in minutes.

You’ll also want to make sure you’re using Coinbase Advanced, rather than the default Simple interface. While the Advanced interface is harder to use, it means you’ll pay a maximum of 0.6% in trading fees (versus at least 2% when using Coinbase Simple).

What Bancor (BNT) trading pairs are available on Coinbase Advanced?

Coinbase’s Advanced Trade dashboard currently has 4 Bancor (BNT) trading pairs:

  • BNT/USD
  • BNT/EUR
  • BNT/GBP
  • BNT/BTC

Unfortunately, UK residents don’t have access to USD markets on Coinbase.

Head over to the Coinbase website to learn more about whether it’s a good fit for you, or check out my in-depth Coinbase review.

2. CoinJar

Established in 2013, CoinJar is a cryptocurrency broker and exchange where you can easily buy Bancor (BNT).

It supports more than 50 other cryptocurrencies too – which includes Compound (COMP), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Algorand (ALGO), and other popular cryptocurrencies.

GBP can be deposited into CoinJar with a UK bank transfer (via Faster Payments). Anything I’ve sent over to CoinJar has typically been credited within minutes.

CoinJar charges a fixed fee of 1% when you buy Bancor (BNT) or any other cryptocurrency which it supports. When I’ve recently checked, I’ve found that the prices they quote for Bancor (BNT) are close to the real exchange rate (within about 0.5%).

You can also now buy Bancor (BNT) and any other supported cryptocurrency with a debit or credit card on CoinJar. However, you will be charged a slightly higher fee (2%).

This is a little more expensive than using a cryptocurrency exchange – but also a lot more convenient and beginner-friendly.

Head over to their website or check out my CoinJar review to learn more.

3. Crypto.com App

With the Crypto.com app, you can buy Bancor (BNT) and more than 150 cryptocurrencies with a UK bank transfer, credit/debit card, or SEPA bank transfer.

The Crypto.com app was previously quite a simple and cheap way to buy loads of cryptocurrencies with GBP. However, I’ve recently noticed that the prices that they’re quoting are significantly above the real exchange rate.

When I’ve checked, prices quoted for Bancor (BNT) were about 1.5% higher than on exchanges like Coinbase Advanced. If you go with them, ensure you double-check what you’re REALLY being charged.

The app isn’t as simple or intuitive as alternatives like CoinJar, Luno, or Coinbase either.

Download the app to check it out yourself, or give my Crypto.com review a read for more details.
